[Footy] Two Wins on The Trot

It was a very beautiful week of football for me and without a doubt all United fans. A one-nil and 4-1 win at Trafford against FC Barcelona and West Ham United respectively. A game left in the BPL and a final against the other semi-final winner Chelsea is all that’s left of United’s season.

First things first the clash against Barca. Boy oh boy was that one hell of an intense match. I think I had about 4 cigs during the last 10 minutes of the game. Every time boy wonder Lionel Messi had the ball, dare I say all United fans were biting their nails including myself. It wasn’t a one sided affair though stats show that Barca had most of the possession. United played some solid defense throughout the game even with the absence of Nemanda Vidic and showed the world why they are where they are with some tantalizing display of attacking football. And my predictions came through with an opening stunner by midfield maestro Paul Scholes. Quote – “The man who missed 99’s Final puts United through the 2008 Finals”. It was Unbelievable!

Then came the West Ham game which I had predicted would have been the easier of the 2 remaining games in the league. 3-1 up by half time, I hardly could bother of what could happen next. If you thought Scholesy’s goal against Barca was awesome, you should have seen Tevez’s goal that virtually put West Ham out of their misery. A stunner out side the box gave Robert Green no chance of denying. Cristiano sealed his Golden Boot with a brace earlier to bring his tally up to 30 premiership goals. If that couldn’t pain the West Ham faithful, ex-youth player Michael Carrick sealed the score-line to increase United’s goal difference to 19. One game left at the JJB, and though many might say that Wigan have nothing to play for and easy it will be for United, I have my doubts of whether Brucey would hand his former gaffer the title on a silver platter. I believe pride would be at stake.

My predictions for the up and coming games would be United to lift the title after a 2-1 win at the JJB and United for the title in Moscow. How fitting would it be for the team who deserves it the most. Don’t you think so?
